MONTICELLO – The Montreign Resort Casino is to be up and operating in two years, according to the license stipulation.  No one in Sullivan County is wasting time getting ready.
SUNY Sullivan President Karin Hilgersom announced at a meeting of the community college consortium that includes Orange, Ulster, Rockland and recently, Dutchess and Westchester, that they are stepping up in a key area.
“SUNY Sullivan is taking the lead on hospitality through the Catskill Hospitality Institute, and when that program is developed, we’re happy to share that with you and your students,” Hilgersom said.
County Workforce Development head Laura Quigley said they are also working unions.
“We’re focused on our 18 to 24-year-old population, because of they can successfully go through this pre-apprenticeship program that will be sanctioned by the local unions, then, they then become a ‘direct hire’”
Quigley said that means they go right to work in Sullivan County.
