GOSHEN – A Montrose, Pennsylvania man was sentenced in Orange County Court on Tuesday to nine years in New York prison and five years of post-release supervision following his guilty plea to criminal possession of a weapon, an untraceable AR-15-style ghost gun with no serial numbers.

Dustin Showers, 34, pled guilty in 2022 but failed to return to court for sentencing. He was eventually returned this April and admitted to his conduct and failure to abide by plea promises made to the court by absconding for a year-and-a-half, the district attorney’s office recommended 15 years in prison, the maximum sentence permitted.

It was alleged that Showers was making and selling those weapons. At the plea proceedings, he admitted that on September 2, 2021 in the Town of Minisink, he illegally possessed a loaded assault weapon.

Investigation by Port Jervis City Police, the Orange County Drug Task Force and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office led to Showers’ arrest.
