KINGSTON – Area residents rallied in front of Congressman John Faso’s (R, NY-19) Kingston office on Friday urging him to reject the latest attempt to repeal Obamacare.
Members of Citizen Action of Hudson Valley, Community Voices Heard, and Indivisible NY-19, said the Graham-Cassidy bill would raise premiums and strip healthcare coverage from millions of New Yorkers.
“New York nurses work hard every day to give our patients the best possible care, and that includes fighting to preserve the Affordable Care Act,” said Lawrence Clayton, a registered nurse from HealthAlliance Benedictine Hospital. He urged Faso to vote against the latest effort to kill Obamacare. “Our community should not be put at risk,” Clayton said.
Citizen Action of New York lead organizer Callie Jayne said the bill
“is a disaster for New York State. The bill was designed to shift
federal money away from states like New York that extended coverage to
states that refused to expand Medicaid.”
As of last night, the future of Graham-Cassiidy was very much in doubt because of Republican defections.
