Two arrested; gun and drugs seized

NEW ROCHELLE – A traffic stop in New Rochelle just before 10 p.m. on May 1 resulted in the arrests of two New York City men and the seizure of a gun and drugs by New Rochelle Police.

During the stop, detectives saw what appeared to be heroin in a Ziploc bag n the center console cupholder. A narcotics K9 responded and confirmed it was drugs.

The two occupants, Ronny Mota, 34, of the Bronx, and Biag Velasquez, 38, of Manhattan, were arrested.

Police said during further search of their car, they found a hidden compartment with a stolen .32 caliber gun, 85 grams of cocaine, 245 oxycodone pills and 110 ecstasy pills, along with $4,261 in small bills.

Both men were charged with three counts of drug possession, criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of stolen property.
