BEACON – The iconic sloop Clearwater is back on the Hudson River after a major hull restoration this past winter and a short delay awaiting Coast Guard inspection.
To mark the relaunch, Clearwater will hold a dockside ceremony on Sunday, July 31 at the pier in Cold Spring beginning at 6 p.m.
“The sloop Clearwater passed her US Coast Guard inspection and
has resumed sailing with passengers,” said David Conover, the organization’s
interim executive director. “We’re very happy to be back on
the Hudson sailing again.”
Captain Nick Rogers said with wooden boats, there is always work to be done.
“As much as the Clearwater crew loves woodworking, we love sailing even more,” Rogers said. “Sharing the sailing experience with the people of the Hudson Valley is what we look forward to the most.”
