MOUNT KISCO – Governor
Cuomo did not come out of his home in Mount Kisco Sunday evening –
if he was home – when some 100 people rallied in support of sustainable
energy.

Lots of protestors; no governor

The participants represented a number of groups opposed to construction of the SPECTRA AIM pipeline, which would run near the Indian Point nuclear power plant; the CPV Valley Power Plant in Slate Hill, which is under construction; and the continued operation of the Indian Point facilities.
Pramilla Malick of “Protect Orange County,” the group opposed to the CPV plant, said the push for sustainable energy is a unified effort.
“I think the great thing about today’s event is that we stood side by side with the people fighting the Indian Point power plant and we stood in solidarity and said that we will not be forced to trade poisons and trade victims and call it an environmental victory,” Malick said.
Susan Van Dolsen of “Stop the Algonquin Pipeline Expansion,” said the governor is in support of their efforts to convince the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to put a halt to the Algonquin Pipeline expansion.
“He has got to step in and bring it to the President,” Van Dolsen said.  “He has the power to get in touch with the president and he is willing to go to Washington with us, so we are optimistic.”
Hours before the rally, a representative from Cuomo’s Office called one of the organizers to say he agreed to travel to Washington with impacted residents.
