Neuhaus ceremonially signed the ceremonial check on the shore of Greenwood Lake

GOSHEN – Orange County Executive Steven Neuhaus presented $5,000 checks to Greenwood Lake Mayor Jesse Dwyer and Monroe Mayor James Purcell on Monday. The money will be used to promote tourism in their communities.
Neuhaus wants to spread around some of the $3 million collected annually
in the county in bed tax from visitors who stay at hotels, motels and
B&Bs.
“When I took office, I made a pledge and the legislature supported me to start returning that money back to where it should go, and that is to tourism,” the county exec said.  “It is generated from people that are visiting the county, let’s put it back to things that attracts people to the county, whether it be the air show, or the fireworks shows we have or concerts on the lawn.”
Neuhaus plans on distributing additional funds to other communities in the weeks ahead.
