Fugitive sentenced in shooting death of Yonkers man

WHITE PLAINS – A Yonkers man was sentenced in Westchester County Court on Thursday to 25 years in state prison in the shooting death of another man, who was ambushed.
Edwin Palestina, 23, has been convicted of manslaughter and attempted murder in the death of Rodney Saunders, 23, on May 1, 2014.
At about 2 that morning, Saunders was attempted to get into his house when he was struck by six bullets fired by two men.  A witness looking out of his window was also shot age with the bullet grazing his shoulder.
The two shooters ran to a waiting minivan and fled.
An intensive investigation led to Palestina as one of the perpetrators. He was arrested by Yonkers Police and the FBI in Houston, Texas on June 16, 2015.
