GOSHEN – A Shawnee, Oklahoma woman faces four to 12 years in prison when sentenced in July in connection with a fatal accident in the Town of Newburgh.

Nicholle Hoke, 45, pled guilty in Orange County Court on Wednesday to aggravated vehicular homicide.

It is alleged that around 10 p.m. on June 24, 2023, she crashed her vehicle into another one on Route 9W resulting in the death of one person in the other vehicle and a second sustaining serious injury.

Hoke told police she was driving to her hotel from a New Paltz bar where she had been drinking.

A blood test revealed her blood alcohol content was twice the limit at 0.16 percent.

At the plea proceedings, she admitted driving recklessly and causing the death of one person and seriously injuring another while drunk.

Newburgh Town Police conducted the investigation into Hoke’s arrest.

“Driving while intoxicated is a senseless, incredibly dangerous and criminal act,” said District Attorney David Hoovler. “Unfortunately, the lives of the victims in this case and their families are forever altered because of the choices made by this defendant.
