WINGDALE – Firefighters from three departments responded to a fire in Wingdale Thursday morning (today) that claimed the life of a female resident.  The Reagans Mill Road fire was reported at 5:15 in the morning.

Radio transmissions indicate that the man and woman who resided in the mobile home had evacuated the residence before the arrival of emergency crews.  A 911 dispatcher was on the phone with the male resident who was telling the woman not to go back into the residence to save the pet cats.  The woman ignored the advice and re-entered the structure where she eventually perished along with the felines.

The Dutchess County Fire Investigation Division responded to the scene along with staff from the Dutchess County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The cause and origin of the fire are under investigation.

The Dover Fire Department was assisted by the Pawling and Wassaic Fire Departments with assistance from Norther Dutchess Paramedics EMS.  The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office and State Police were also on the scene.
