POUGHKEEPSIE – Five years ago February 18, 2011, Det. John Falcone
of the Poughkeepsie Police Department was shot and killed during a domestic
incident near the Poughkeepsie railroad station.

To honor his memory, the police department will be conducting a blood
drive on Monday, February 22 at the Italian Community Center at 227 Mill

This is the sixth blood drive held in memory of Falcone. A total of 414
units of blood have been donated since the first memorial blood drive
was held.

“Detective Falcone gave up his life to save others,” said
Sonja Ronovech of the American Red Cross Blood Services, New York-Penn
Region. “We are grateful to the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department
and the community for honoring his memory by donating blood so that others
can live.”
The blood drive will be held from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.
