ALBANY – Former Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore Monday took the oath of office and because Chief Judge of the State Court of Appeals and Chief Judge of the state.
Governor Cuomo said she is “uniquely qualified to fulfill this demanding role.”
DiFiore, who said being named to the dual role is “a professional honor of a lifetime,” said the New York court system will treat everyone fairly.
“Every litigant who appears before our court will always receive a fair and impartial hearing, that we will continue to work tirelessly and conscientiously to apply the law with integrity and common sense and that we will strive to reach the right and just result in each and every case for the party seeking justice, for the bar seeking clarity and guidance in the law, and for our society seeking progress and prosperity grounded in the rule of law,” she said.
DiFiore, who looked up to the late former Chief Judge Judith Kaye, who died recently, wore her robes that were given to her before Kay passed away.
