State and federal agencies invite public to Rt. 17 widening scoping sessions

WALLKILL – The State Department of Transportation, in cooperation with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), is preparing an Environmental Impact Statement for the New York State Route 17 Mobility and Access Improvements Project located along Route 17 between Exit 113 in Sullivan County and I-87 in Orange County.

The agencies will be holding public scoping meetings with state DOT representatives available to provide information, answer questions, and gather input.

The first two meetings will be held on Wednesday, May 15 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Wallkill Community Center on Wes Warren Drive in the Town of Wallkill.

A third session will be held on Thursday, May 16 at Central Valley Elementary School at 45 Route 32 in Central Valley.

No session has been announced in Sullivan County.

Submitted comments will become part of the Project file, which is a public record.
