WHITE PLAINS – The bipartisan leadership of the Westchester County Board of Legislators, which was selected two years ago, will continue for the next two years.
Democrat Michael Kaplowitz will continue as chairman with Republican
James Maisano continuing to serve as vice chairman.
Democrats will hold a one vote edge over Republicans in January.
Kaplowitz is looking forward to maintaining the coalition to the benefit of the county’s residents.
“We have made it our hallmark to sit around the table and negotiate to reach through a conciliatory process, a consensus, and not to sue each other, not to break down in fights and discord, not to stop up government, but instead to work things through,” the chairman said. ”This is a process we are hopeful and glad to continue for the next two years and then allow us to get to work with the people’s business and try to come up with some solutions to many, many vexing problems.”
Among the issues Kaplowitz would like to pursue is keeping a close watch on the county budget and shepherding the public-private partnership to move the county-owned Playland Park forward.
