WHITE PLAINS – Babies love diapers and tend to run through them faster than moms and dads can buy new ones.
If parents are ever faced with a problem not being able to afford them temporarily, the Westchester Diaper Bank has been formed.
The effort is a partnership between the Junior League of Central Westchester County and County Executive Robert Astorino.
Huggies has just donated a whopping 90,000 diapers to the one-year-old effort. In its first year of operations, the diaper bank distributed 150,600 diapers to local families in need. That is an average of 274 packages monthly.
Because of the sheer volume of the product, the Food Bank of Westchester has agreed to allow the Diaper Bank to store them in their warehouse.
“The Westchester County Diaper Bank is providing a much needed resource to families in our county and we are glad to share our space, which will allow them to continue to do this important work,” said Food Bank President Ellen Lynch.
