Two area firefighters to be honored by National Fallen Firefighters Foundation

HUDSON VALLEY – Two fallen firefighters from the Hudson Valley will be honored at the national memorial service on October 4 in Emmitsburg, Maryland. Their names will be added to the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial.
Firefighter Kevin Bristol, 48, of the Peekskill Fire Department suffered a fatal heart attack on March 3, 2014 within 24 hours of responding to several calls.
Firefighter Fred Edwards, 66, of the Liberty Fire Department, suffered a fatal heart attack and died after participating in fire department training on May 7, 2014.
The national tribute is sponsored by the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation and the Department of Homeland Security’s US Fire Administration.
The October ceremony will be the 34th annual service. This year 11 firefighters from New York who died in the line of duty will be honored.
