prosecution

HYDE PARK – Police charged a man with murder in the death of Jerusha Christie, 27, whose body was found on March 17 at the former Hudson River Psychiatric Center in Hyde Park.   
William McKinney, 55, of Poughkeepsie was arrested Wednesday evening on Smith Street in the City of Poughkeepsie.
Christie died of a stab wound to the chest; however, police would not say if a weapon was recovered.
Another man, Gerome Harris, 33, of Poughkeepsie, was arrested on Tuesday and charged with hindering the prosecution for helping to dump the woman’s body at the psych center property in Hyde Park.
State Police Lt. Paul DeQuardo said Christie was killed at 333 Mansion Street in Poughkeepsie, where Harris was arrested.
McKinney was sent to the Dutchess County Jail without bail.
The investigation was conducted by the State Police Troop K, Hyde Park Police and the Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office.
