PEARL RIVER – Police officers from throughout the region will be converging on the Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home in Pearl River today for the funeral of fallen Brewster Police Officer Richard Gurniak who passed away last Saturday while on duty.
The 57-year-old Gurniak joined the Brewster Police Department two years ago following a 25-year career with the NYPD.
Family members have asked mourners to “celebrate the vibrant colors Richard painted upon the canvas of our lives. For while he may have departed from this earthly realm, his spirit remains a beacon of light, guiding us through the darkest of nights.”
The family has requested in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation or the Wounded Warrior Project.
