Couple robs women in home while infant is left in their car, police say

CLARKSTOWN – A man and woman from Nanuet are charged with the armed robbery of two 18-year-old women at a Miller Road, Valley Cottage residence Thursday afternoon.
Charged with armed robbery, burglary, criminal mischief, menacing, harassment and endangering the welfare of a child were Tao Zhang, 26, and Vivian Wu, 25, both of Nanuet. They were arrested shortly after the incident.
Clarkstown Police said after victims heard someone banging on her front door, a man shattered the door window with a crow bar and forced their way in yelling for the women to give them their money.
The victim said the man began to throw shattered glass at her, cutting her legs.
The suspects fled with a cell phone and I-Pod and took office in a gray 4×4 truck. The victim was able to throw an object at the vehicle, shattering the rear window.
Police issued a radio broadcast of for the truck, which was spotted a short time later at the Lake Ridge Shopping Center in Valley Cottage.
Wu’s four-month-old baby was in the truck when police arrested the pair.          
Zhang and Wu are in the Rockland County Jail in lieu of $35,000 bail each. The infant was placed in the care of family members.
The victim was treated at Nyack Hospital for lacerations.
