POUGHKEEPSIE – New York’s senior senator is pushing the federal Economic Development Agency to award Marist College in Poughkeepsie $1 million for two projects that would foster economic growth in the region.
Senator Charles Schumer said the money would enable the college to create a Science and Technology Park on its east campus and a “Proof of Concept” Center for cloud computing.
Dutchess County Executive Marcus Molinaro has been involved in the process
to grow the college’s cloud facilities.
“Marist has consistently expanded their economic impact and their commitment to excellence in technology and data is really recognized across the country, so Dutchess County is quit grateful to Marist, to its educational economic impact, and we are hopeful that the senator and others will continue to remain supportive as they continue to expand and grow,” Molinaro said.
The federal grant would be used to leverage over $34 million that is
already committed to the project.
