TOWN OF POUGHKEEPSIE – Eric Vandercar
grew up on Lori Street in the Town of Poughkeepsie, just a few doors down
from his childhood buddy, Robert Gropper.

Vandercar was one of the six people killed in the Metro-North train crash
in Valhalla.

Gropper is in “absolute shock” over his lifelong pal’s
death.

“Accidents like this are beyond explanation. It’s just a terrible,
terrible tragedy when another good person, who was extremely talented
in his profession, very well respected as a professional in the financial
world, and now he’s gone,” Gropper reflected.
Vandercar, who was 53, lived with his wife and two young children in
Bedford Hills.
