Pedestrian struck and killed by Metro-North train

PAWLING – A pedestrian was struck and killed by a Metro-North passenger train Friday evening, MTA officials said.

The incident occurred at around 5:30 p.m. in Pawling near the Appalachian Trail and Route 22.

Service was interrupted on the Harlem Line until 8 p.m. between Wassaic and the Town of Southeast with residual delays once service resumed.

It was not immediately known if the victim was a man or woman.

The investigation into the incident is continuing.
