GOSHEN – A 34-year-old Decatur, Georgia man has been sentenced to five years in New York prison and five years of post-release supervision in connection with his guilty please to criminal possession of a controlled substance.
It was alleged that on September 26, 2023, state troopers stopped a vehicle driven by Nicoy Murray on Interstate 84 in the Town of Newburgh for vehicle and traffic law violations.
Murray’s license was suspended and the vehicle was impounded.
During a routine inventory search of the vehicle, a kilogram of cocaine was recovered.
He later pled guilty to possessing over four ounces of cocaine.
“The disruption of the flow of narcotics into our communities starts with proactive policing,” said District Attorney David Hoovler. “It is important to identify, arrest, prosecute and incarcerate the drivers of the narcotics trade.”
