Candidates file for Putnam County board of education seats

CARMEL – Several candidates seeking board of education seats across Putnam County have filed nominating petitions with district clerks in each of the county’s six school districts.

School election day is May 21 and in addition to deciding the fate of school budgets, residents will elect trustees to boards of education.

In Brewster incumbent trustee Cynthia MacGregor Fox is seeking reelection. Others filing petitions include Jennifer Carpiniello, Scott Seaman and Corey Hart.

Incumbent trustees Erik Grutzner and Dehisy Jiminez-Vazquez have decided not to seek reelection.

In the Carmel School District, incumbent trustees Melissa Orser and John Curzio are seeking reelection. They are being challenged by Roshan Bhojwani.

Three candidates are seeking three seats on the Garrison Board of Education including Peter Lesser, incumbent Jennifer Harriton-Wilson and Eric Arnold.

In the Haldane District in Cold Spring, Mary Valentine and Michelle Kupper are seeking two board of education seats.

Six persons filed petitions for three seats on the Mahopac Board of Education including incumbent trustee Lucy Massafra and newcomers Christopher Harrigan, Noelle Harrison, Lisa Carway, Jennifer Travis and Sharae Nix.

In Putnam Valley, two seats are up for grabs. Incumbent trustee Barbara Parmly faces opposition from Zayd Eljamal, Sasha Hayes and Maranda Zocchi.
