Nuvance Health appoints Adam Boruchov, MD, System Chair of the Cancer Institute

POUGHKEEPSIE- Nuvance Health has welcomed Dr. Adam Boruchov as senior vice president and system chair of the Cancer Institute.

Dr. Boruchov is an esteemed hematologist/oncologist with extensive experience in clinical research and cancers of the blood and bone marrow.  As system chair, he will partner with Cancer Institute leaders to ensure the best possible cancer care and services are available to the communities Nuvance Health serves.

Dr. Boruchov will oversee the strategic growth of the Cancer Institute, including medical oncology, radiation oncology, surgical oncology and the vital support services available for patients and families affected by cancer.  He will also oversee quality initiatives and physician recruitment so people in the Hudson Valley and western Connecticut can stay in their communities for top cancer care.

Dr. Boruchov has held local, regional and national leadership positions at Trinity Health. Most recently, he served as chair of the Oncology Clinical Excellence Council at Trinity Health and regional oncology service line leader at Trinity Health of New England.  He also held leadership positions within the Smilow Cancer Hospital at Saint Francis including director of clinical trials and research and section chief of hematology/oncology.  He was also on the Leadership Council, where he led strategic planning for the Smilow Cancer Hospital/Yale Cancer Center and Saint Francis integration.

Additionally, while at Saint Francis Hospital, Dr. Boruchov was the director of the Lea Economos Hematology Center for Clinical Research and principal investigator for the Dana Farber Blood Cancer Research Partnership.

Throughout his career, Dr. Boruchov has earned prestigious awards, conducted cutting-edge research, and contributed to professional medical and scientific societies.  Medical journals have extensively published his research in oncology and immunology.  Further, he has held numerous teaching and research academic positions at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (MSK), Weill Medical College of Cornell University, and the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, where he was a full professor.

Dr. Boruchov completed his post-doctoral training internship and residency at New York-Presbyterian Hospital, followed by a fellowship in hematology/oncology at MSK.  After the fellowship, he joined MSK’s faculty as a physician-scientist, studying novel methods of treating cancer with immune-based therapies.

Dr. Boruchov earned a bachelor of science degree from Northwestern University.  He earned his medical degree from State University of New York (SUNY) Downstate Medical Center, where he graduated summa cum laude with a distinction in research.
