NEWBURGH- Dr. Jason Adist will be stepping down as President of Mount Saint Mary College on August 31 and will be appointed to a new role as a consultant to the college’s Board of Trustees the following day.  In June, Adist announced that he would not be renewing his contract with the college but would continue to serve as President through the end of the 2023-2024 academic year when his current contract expires.  The Board of Trustees has named Fr. Gregoire Fluet Acting President effective September 1.

“The Board of Trustees thanks President Adsit for his commitment to the college and looks forward to working with him in his new role,” said Michael Horodyski, Chair of the Mount’s Board of Trustees.

Fr. Fluet currently serves as Campus Chaplain, Director of Campus Ministry, and as an Adjunct Instructor of History and Religious Studies.

“I want to personally thank Dr. Adsit for the leadership he has provided Mount Saint Mary College,” said Fr. Fluet.  “I am humbled by the confidence the Board of Trustees has chosen to place in me.

Adsit’s transition from President to consultant comes weeks after a group of college professors sent a letter to the Board of Trustees expressing their dissatisfaction with Adsit and requesting he be removed as President.

Over the next several weeks the Board of Trustees will work with a small search committee to find a highly-qualified Interim President.
