NEWBURGH – Faculty at Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh is not pleased with the performance of College President Jason Adsit and urged the board of trustees to remove him from his post, sources tell Mid-Hudson News.

The letter fell short of saying the faculty took a vote of no-confidence but did suggest that the board relieve Adsit of his duties now.

Board President Michael Horodyski confirmed they did receive a letter from the professors but would not discuss its contents.

Last month, Adsit informed the board that he would not seek a new contract when his current one expires at the conclusion of the upcoming academic year. That plan is not supported by the faculty at the college.

Adsit is the college’s seventh president and has been serving in the role since 2018.

The faculty’s request comes at a time of consistently declining enrollment for the college. The freshman class, set to arrive at the college in a few short weeks, is fewer than 200 students.
