New Windsor police seeking witnesses to accident

NEW WINDSOR – Town police are seeking witnesses to a Thursday morning accident on River Road that resulted in one occupant being airlifted to Westchester Medical Center and four others with serious injuries being transported to Montefiore St. Luke’s-Cornwall Hospital by ambulances.

New Windsor Police Chief Dan Valeri says his officers responded to the area of 1196 River Road at 8:06 a.m. on March 16th for a report of a two-car accident.  First arriving officers located two cars involved in a head-on collision with multiple injured victims, including one of the operators.  The operator was extricated by members of the New Windsor Fire Department and airlifted to the hospital.

Chief Valeri said the investigation is ongoing and anyone that may have witnessed the accident is asked to call the police department at 845-565-7000
