YONKERS – A 29-year-old Peekskill man has been arrested and charged with murder in the shooting death of a 22-year-old busser at a bar in Yonkers early Sunday.

City Police charged Vaquba Jaquan McGougain with firing a gun into the vestibule of Duo Tapas Lounge and Bar as guests at a private party were being escorted out by employees, two of whom were shot, one fatally.

A busser, Antonio Antoine-Filis, 22, of Montvale, New Jersey, was struck twice, once in the torso and once in the hand, and died.

A 23-year-old Bronx man, working as a bouncer, was shot in the stomach, treated, and released.

Police said that McGougain left the party, went to a parked car and retrieved a gun. He returned to the bar and opened fire striking the two employees.

A semi-automatic 9mm handgun, believed to be the murder weapon, was recovered. It had been purchased in North Carolina in 2018 and was not reported stolen.

The alleged shooter was charged with murder, attempted murder, and criminal possession of a weapon.

He was remanded to the Westchester County Jail.

City and police officials are working with state authorities to suspend business operations at the bar.
