TOWN OF NEWBURGH – A serious auto accident on the northbound Thruway near exit 17 in the Town of Newburgh sent one person to Westchester Medical Center late Monday morning.
Traffic was stopped in both directions as a medivac helicopter landed on the highway to transport the victims to the hospital.
Winona Lake and Orange Lake fire departments responded to the scene along with Town of Newburgh EMS.
A deputy Orange County fire coordinator was also on the scene along with Thruway Authority personnel and State Police.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
