Poughkeepsie police investigating Cannon Street slashing

POUGHKEEPSIE – A 72-year-old man was treated for a wound to his face on Tuesday, November 2, after an unknown man slashed him with a bladed object in the vicinity of 47 Cannon Street in Poughkeepsie.  City police are investigating the incident.

 

According to police, City 911 received a call from MidHudson Regional Hospital reporting that a man with a slash wound to his face was being treated at the facility.  The police responded to the hospital and interviewed the victim.

According to the wounded man, he was driving on Cannon Street just before 6 p.m. when he encountered a man standing in the roadway.  The driver stopped his vehicle to see if the man needed assistance and the subject began kicking the man’s car.  The victim got out of his vehicle to inspect the car for damage at which time the subject slashed him in the face with the bladed object.  The victim got back in his car and drove to the hospital for treatment.  The police say that the wound was likely to require several sutures to close the wound.
