NEW CITY – A Rockland County grand jury has indicted Jason Castro, 44, of Nanuet on charges of manslaughter and reckless endangerment in connection with a crash that killed two teenagers on October 13, 2019, in Pearl River.

It is alleged that Castro’s reckless driving caused the deaths of Sanika Cekic, 15, of Brooklyn and Altin Nezaj, 17, of Pearl River.

Castro and another driver, Aisha Radoncic, engaged in a speed contest on Route 304. After the two vehicles collided, Radoncic’s car veered off the road and careened off an overpass crashing below. His backseat passengers were killed.

“The indictment of Mr. Castro will hopefully allow the grieving families a sense of closure and that it continues the healing process for our community,” said District Attorney Thomas Walsh II.
