NEWBURGH – Newburgh City
Police and the Orange County District Attorney’s Office Task Force,
Thursday, conducted a narcotics operation in response to several complaints
from residents concerning open air drug dealing in the area of Carson
Avenue and William Street. That is one block from South Junior High School.
Following the drug operation, the agencies conducted a prostitution operation
resulting from numerous complaints of prostitution throughout the city.
“This collaborate effort should act as yet another reminder of how
dedicated we are to eliminating crime and making our neighborhoods safer
for the residents of the City of Newburgh,” said Police Chief Douglas
Solomon.
“We are all too familiar with the damage and violence that the drug
trade inflicts on our communities,” said District Attorney David
Hoovler. “Those who go to the City of Newburgh to purchase narcotics
further enable drug dealers to damage the city. Those who patronize prostitutes
not only destroy the quality of life of city residents, but take advantage
of those unfortunate individuals who become ensnarled in prostitution.”
Arrested on misdemeanor drug possession charges were:
• Brian Greiner, 42
• Nicholas Conklin, 40
• Brian Finnegan, 38
• Christina Desrumeaux, 27
• Jennifer Kolmel, 41
• Paul Johnson, 28
• Joseph Rawlins, 32
• Steven Russo, 57
Two people were arrested on felony charges of selling drugs in or near
school grounds.
• Christopher Brown, 49
• Joel Bruno, 25
Arrested during the narcotics operation on misdemeanor charges of aggravated
unlicensed operation of a vehicle were:
• Andrea Woods, 25
• David Woods, 65
• David Musial, 47. He was also found to have two active bench warrants.
As a result of the prostitution operation, officers made arrests on charges
of patronizing a prostitute.
• Robert Bullis, 59
• Michel Sebastian-Ramirez, 27
• Leverne Barrett, 54
• Kyrie Brinson, 43. He was also charged with giving police a false
name, and once positively identified, it was determined he had an active
warrant from Middletown City Court as well.
