BREWSTER – Frank and Diane LaMorte realize the heartache caused each day by cancer.
The Brewster educators who love to dance once again will conduct a dance-a-thon to benefit the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life at the Fred Astaire Studio located at 1515 Route 22 at the Lakeview Plaza Shopping Center. The competition will be held November 14.
The dance-a-thon is being held in conjunction with Team CV Starr. The school hopes to raise $10,000 for cancer research this school year that will be culminated next June 1 at the Brewster Relay for Life.
Three relays are again planned for Putnam countywide in June: Mahopac, Patterson as well as Brewster.
On Saturday, the LaMortes, with the support of the dance studio staff that donated its studio time and world class instructors, danced the night away learning the rumba, salsa, waltz and swing. Frank LaMorte described the event as “truly special. We enjoyed each other’s company, learned new dance steps – with all proceeds earmarked for the Relay for Life movement. Talk about a win-win-win!”
CV Starr team captains Allison Mooney and Jackie Fego said other fundraisers will include bake sales, candy sales and even a paint night.
