KINGSTON – Ulster County Sheriff’s detectives concluded the investigation of a fatal motor vehicle accident that occurred on April 30 on Route 9W in Ulster Park.
A bicyclist, Justin Boyd, of Ulster Park, was struck and killed by a pickup truck drive by Michael Brailey of Red Hook.
Investigation by the sheriff’s office, State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit and State Police Computer Crime Unit found that alcohol, drugs and distraction from cell phone use were not factors in the accident.
Police concluded that Brailey likely became drowsy and drifted off the road, striking Boyd, police said. He was charged with the traffic infractions of speed in excess of 55 mph and moving from lane unsafely.
