CARMEL – Seventy-seven residents planning to travel abroad later
this year participated in Passport Day Saturday at the Putnam County Office
Building in Carmel.

Employees of the county clerk’s office greeted applicants and within
minutes they were on their way with a passport due to arrive within the
next six weeks.

County Clerk Michael Bartolotti reminded the public that all United States
citizens must present a valid passport when entering or re-entering the
U.S. by air. “U.S. citizens entering or re-entering from Canada,
Mexico, the Caribbean and Bermuda at land borders and sea ports of entry
must also present a passport or other travel document approved by the
U.S. government.”

Bartolotti suggested those planning travel outside the U.S. this winter
apply for a passport now. “The travel season is right around the
corner.”

In case you missed the opportunity, passports can still be applied for
at the County Clerk’s Office located at 40 Gleneida Avenue in the
Putnam County Office Building.

And, of course, passports may be acquired at all county clerks’
offices in the Hudson Valley.
