Sullivan County again tops new jobs in August

ALBANY – Sullivan County continues to dominate the new job market statewide.
In the 12 months ending in August, jobs grew by 9.1 percent in Sullivan. The casino resort, upscale spa and other developments are credited with the increased job market.
Ulster County jobs grew by 2.9 percent, while the Orange-Rockland-Westchester Metro Area saw a 1.1 percent increase in jobs.
Greene County jobs grew by 0.9 percent, the Dutchess-Putnam Metropolitan
Division saw job growth of 0.8 percent and Columbia County rose by 0.6
percent.
Region-wide for the 12-month period ended in August, jobs grew by 11,300, or 1.4 percent, to 815,000.
Gains were largest in educational and health services; professional and business services; natural resources, mining, and construction; and other services.
Losses were centered in trade, transportation and utilities; manufacturing; and information.
