TOWN OF WAPPINGER – A Wappinger woman was killed as she was walking and was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Old Hopewell Road and Route 9 in the Town of Wappinger around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday.
State Police said initial investigation suggests that Graciela Gonzalez, 30, attempted to cross Route 9 from the west shoulder in an easterly direction.
The operator of a southbound car on Route 9, who had a green traffic light at the intersection, failed to see Gonzalez and hit her.
No criminal charges have been filed as of this time.
The investigation is ongoing. Police ask anyone who witnessed the accident to call them at 845-677-7300.
