ANCRAM – A 16-year-old driver was killed Friday evening when the pickup truck he was driving ran off a road and struck a large tree in the Town of Ancram.
The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office said the youth, whose name they did not release, was traveling westbound on Over Mountain Road and for unknown reasons, failed to negotiate a curve, ran off the dirt roadway and struck a large tree on the driver’s side. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
No one else was in the vehicle and the accident remains under investigation by sheriff’s deputies and investigators.
