WASHINGTON – The US Department of Housing and Urban Development announced funding for 20 public housing authorities in the Hudson Valley and Catskills for needed capital improvements.
The money is granted to provide residents with decent, safe and sanitary housing and respond to the growing demand for affordable rental housing.
“The increased capital funding acknowledges that the challenges facing public housing require all hands on deck,” said HUD regional Administrator Lynne Patton. But, she said it is imperative for housing authorities to “leverage these dollars to spur the private investment necessary to put public housing on a sustainable platform for future generations.”
