You pass this bus, you pay at least $250

MID-HUDSON – Police agencies across the region will be participating in “Operation Safe Stop” (today) Thursday, an initiative that will be held statewide.
Police will be in marked and unmarked patrol vehicles on select school
bus routes that have a history of illegal passing complaints. Officers
will be looking for and issuing tickets to motorists who fail to stop
for school buses that are picking up or dropping off children.
The fine for a first-time offender if illegally passing a stopped school bus is $250 to $400, five points on their driver’s license and/or possibly 30 days in jail.
