Brooklyn man arrested on I-684 for felony drug possession

TOWN OF SOUTHEAST – A Brooklyn man was arrested on Wednesday after he was spotted running in the northbound lanes of I-684 in the Town of Southeast.
State Police charged Roger Sherwood, 54, with criminal possession of a controlled substance and tampering with evidence, both as felonies, and disorderly conduct.
Police were called to the highway around 4 a.m. for a report of a suspicious person in the roadway. The officers spotted Sherwood running in the road and when they activated their emergency lights Sherwood ran into the median and could be seen throwing a small plastic bag. He was taken into custody and the bag, which contained some 2.4 grams of cocaine, was recovered.
Sherwood was sent to the Putnam County Jail without bail pending a future court appearance.
