TOWN OF POUGHKEEPSIE – The Fairview Fire District is undergoing a change in leadership with the recent retirement of Chief Tim Gilnack.  The chief began his professional firefighting career with Fairview in 1998  and rose through the ranks until he reached the chief’s position in 2020.  Gilnack ran his last command shift on April 24, 2024.

Gilnack said that he has no immediate plans for retirement other than saying he intends to “clear my mind and relax.”

The Fairview Fire District Board of Fire Commissioners named Deputy Chief Justin Bohlmann to the department’s top spot, replacing Gilnack.

Chief Bohlmann began his professional firefighting career in January 2010 when he was hired by the Fairview Fire District.  Like Gilnack, Bohlmann rose through the ranks of the department when he was promoted to lieutenant in 2017 and captain in 2020, followed by the latest promotion to leader of the entire department.

“Throughout these two decades, I’ve been fortunate to learn from exceptional mentors, fire service instructors, and ultimately friends who have imparted invaluable knowledge, skills, and values, enabling me to lead a remarkable team here at Fairview,” Bohlmann said.
