Millions coming to Hudson Valley projects in Round Five of Restore New York

ALBANY – The fifth round
of the Restore New York Communities Initiative will mean about $10 million
to communities in the Hudson Valley for projects ranging from rebuilding
a hotel, armory, movie theater and to reconstructing a matzah factory
to rehabbing an armory.

The City of Yonkers will receive the largest chunk – $2.5 million –
to redevelop Cottage Place Gardens, a distressed low-income public housing
complex.

The cities of Kingston, New Rochelle, and Poughkeepsie will each receive
$1 million for projects.

The Kingston funds will go toward rebuilding the former Kingstonian Hotel
on North Front Street in the city’s Stockade District for commercial
and residential space.

The City of New Rochelle will use its grand to rehab the New Rochelle
Armory.

The City of Poughkeepsie will use its funds to rehab the former Poughkeepsie
Trolley Barn at 489 Main Street into an arts and cultural center.

The villages of New Square, Port Chester, and Liberty will each receive
$1 million.

New Square will use its funs to reconstruct the former New Square Matzah
Bakery on the first floor and construct eight offices on the second floor.
Port Chester will use its funds to raze buildings at 18 North Street and
construct a five-story building.

Liberty will use its $1 million to rehab the vacant Liberty Theater at
31 South Main Street into a theater for movies, music and live performances.

The Village of Ellenville will receive $750,000 to demolish a former diner
at 127 South Main Street to be replaced with a three-story office building.

The Town of Rockland will receive $1 million to restore the historic Antrim
Lodge at 89 Highland Avenue in the center of Roscoe.

The Town of Liberty will receive $500,000 to restore three vacant properties
on Main Street in Parksville.

The Village of Catskill will receive $1 million to rehabilitate a former
millinery and furniture warehouse into Foreland Catskill, a commercial
office building with a focus on artists and the creative community.
