ROSENDALE – Town Councilwoman Jennifer Metzger officially launches her campaign today to run for the State Senate seat in the 42nd District currently held by Republican John Bonacic.
The Rosendale official is not the only Democrat who may seek the line
on the November ballot as activist Pramilla Malick has said she would
challenge Bonacic for a second time.
Metzger said while she can accomplish much on the local level, there is much more than she could do in Albany.
“We need to fix our broken system of school funding; it hurts our
working families and seniors who can’t afford their property taxes
and it hurts our kids by shortchanging their schools on the resources
they need,” she said. “We need to do much more than we are
doing to accelerate the shift to a clean energy system in New York and
create thousands of good, new jobs. This would be a boon to our economy.
We export most of our energy dollars so you can imagine what it would
do for our economy if we invested those dollars here in renewable energy
and energy efficiency.”
Metzger also said the state must address healthcare affordability and meaningful anti-corruption legislation.
