NEW LEBANON – State Police
were able to prevent a suicidal child from jumping out of a third story
window in the Town of New Lebanon.

Troopers were called to an address on Darrow Road on Thursday, March 15,
for a child under the age of 17 threatening to jump. They arrived quickly
and began talking to the child, but when additional emergency personnel
arrived, the child became more upset.

Troopers had all remaining vehicles move out of sight and eventually convinced
the child to leave the window ledge.

The youth was turned over the Chatham Rescue Squad and transported to
Berkshire Medical Center for medical evaluation.

Police did not say whether the youth was male or female.
