TOWN OF FISHKILL – A Beacon woman died Tuesday morning when she lost control while driving on Route 9D in the Town of Fishkill, struck a guardrail, crossed lanes and hit a truck.
Hilary Holmes, 49, drove her car into the rear of box truck owned by Cream O Land Dairy of Florence, NY. The driver, a 48-year-old New Jersey man and his passenger were uninjured.
The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office said a primary factor in the crash is thought to be driver distraction on the part of Holmes. The investigation is continuing.
Assisting at the scene were the Dutchess County Medical Examiner, Fishkill Town Police, Beacon City Fire Department and the Castle Point Fire Department.
