Martinez

CARMEL – The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office has charged an
Elmhurst man with promoting prostitution after he was stopped while driving
on Bucks Hollow Road in Mahopac.

Leonardo Martinez, 42, was pulled over for a traffic violation after which
it was determined he was driving without a valid license.

Martinez was accompanied by two women, ages 28 and 23, both from Queens.

During the investigation, it was determined that Martinez had solicited
a number of people from Westchester and Putnam counties to engage in sexual
conduct with the women in exchange for money to be paid to Martinez and
the women.

He was also found in possession of cocaine.

As a result, Martinez was charged with promoting prostitution and misdemeanor
criminal possession of a controlled substance.

He was remanded to the Putnam County Jail in lieu of $15,000 cash bail
and $25,000 bond.

The arrest was made on February 16 and made public one week later.

The investigation is continuing.
