HARRIS – The opening of the casino last week and future project completions of the nearby spa and indoor waterpark mean more health services and medical staff will be needed at Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris.
The hospital’s CEO, Jonathan Schiller, said they are already seeing the effects of the economy on the hospital.
“Believe it or not we have already seen patients from the new casino and employees come through the organization, so that is impacting our ability to add more staff as we start to see those patients come through the building,” Schiller said.
Just last week, the state announced just under $3.3 million for Catskill Regional as a rural hospital in need of financial support to keep up-to-date with its health services and equipment.
