MONTICELLO – In the month of January alone, there were 211 new confirmed cases of the flu in Sullivan County; that is an increase from 24 confirmed cases from October through December 2017. And because the upward spiral in influenza statewide the state is providing emergency funding to local health departments to provide flu shots to the general population.
As a result, Sullivan County Public Health Services will expand clinic hours for flu shot appointments at its Liberty clinic to 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
The county health department is also reaching out to towns, SUNY Sullivan, churches and community organizations to determine the need for additional flu clinics in other parts of the county.
Vaccinations may also be obtained through your local healthcare provider and some pharmacies.
